Warrent issued for Steven Pienaar's arrest

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Premier League footballer Steven Pienaar after he scored an equalising goal against Man Utd.

But seriously, he failed to appear at an Essex court on speeding charges.

Mr Pienaar, 30, was due to attend Chelmsford Magistrates' court on Monday to face two allegations of speeding on the same road in Essex, 11 days apart.
The Everton midfielder is also accused of failing to give driver details for his Aston Martin DBS car.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, a court spokesman said.
It is claimed Mr Pienaar was caught travelling at 43mph in a 30mph zone in Lambourne Road, Chigwell, on 10 October last year.
Mr Pienaar also faces an allegation he was travelling at 38 mph along the same road on 21 October.

Yeah, when I got a ticket for doing 38 in a 30, I went straight to mass and said 157 hail mary's.

I would suspect he's probably laughing about the hyperbole with which the whole thing is being dealt.

"Arrest Warrant for Everton Superstar" is definitely more attention grabbing than "No big deal, nothing to see here".

Presumably if you got a summons to court you'd turn up though, instead of just not bothering your hole? It's not like he was overly busy. I'm sure he'll fling a few quid at it and send a solictor to sort it out.:rolleyes:

I have no idea of the specific's in this case, but a court summons for a driving offense will go, by mail, to the address your car is registered to. Since he's back in Liverpool on loan, it's entirely possible they just missed it in London or something.

I doubt this is a rare occurrence, and I also doubt it's much of an issue to get sorted. It really is a non story.

To all those laughing about it like its nothing, 30 mph zones generally are that for a reason.
