    Hey guys,

Just trying some new things to maintain lag and said I'd throw myself on video to see if I was getting hands ahead of ball before clubhead.
But on seeing myself what caught my eye was something else - the hips.
Takeaway looks fine and get to top of backswing ok but I have an overswing (which I know is an issue) and my hips continue to turn so that they rotate way too much (to my eye anyway)

I would have back and overall flexibility issues so do you guys think its the overswing that is causing the hips to go too far and if I can calm that down I might be ok ?
And any good drills to help with an overswing ?

And before anyone says it yes I have got lessons and would do more but have 2 under 2 so zero chance of getting to lessons for a while.
    So any help appreciated :D

Are you sure it's just the hips are the problem?

Are you keeping your right knee bent and locked and the weight on the inside of your right foot the whole way through the backswing? I'm assuming you're right-handed, but your hips can only turn so much if your right leg maintains the correct angle throughout the swing.

A good way of demonstrating is to put something under the outside of your right foot like an old golf club. Take your swing, making sure you keep your right knee bent and see if you still overswing.

+1. Try keep your knees as still as possible and maintain the flex in your knees. It's then much harder to over swing and your hips will be constrained

Ah good man. This is exactly what has changed. In focusing on keeping lag I forgot the last thing I was working on which was exactly this.
Seems I struggle to manage two things at the one time :P

I had been tucking my right knee in slightly and feeling weight on inside of right foot as you say and it had definitely helped.
I guess it's putting it altogher is the issue.
At least the tucked knee is a setup issue which is easier to manage than a dynamic one.

    thanks for the replies
