HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO TRUE A BUCKLED WHEEL

Got home tonight after being out for about two hours and noticed my back wheel was stuck against my brakes. I don't remember hitting any big potholes but i did fall off when going up Barnageeragh Hill after I missed a gear, lost momentum, rolled into a channel at side of the road and the front wheel went straight up and over as I tried to get out. All of this at about 3km per hour.

Anyway, is easy to retrue a wheel or should i take it to my LBS?

If you have a spokekey and it's only slight it's not too bad, google how to do it, slow incremental turns and a good amount of tension is required on each spoke so don't over loosen or over tighten any spokes.

If all else fails bring it to the lbs.

Just went and had a look at some videos and opened my Lidl toolkit to have a go.

However, now see the problem is a broken spoke. Now I know that is beyond me so off to the LBS.

Not sure you were going that fast!

Didn't look to me as if that fall would damage the front wheel. All the weight was on the back one if it's the incident I think it is (surely there was only one faller on that hill last night, although having come off around there twice I'm certainly in no position to gloat;))

if you have a spoke its easier to fix than a buckle (throw in new spoke tension up till true) imo ive replaced lots of spokes, but trueing out a buckle i find v difficult (that obviously depnds on the wheel and havinga supply of spare spokes (not easy with a lot of factory wheels these days)

Dead right I wasn't going that fast. Totally embarresing and you certainly can gloat. The damage was done to the back wheel. I will improve and i actually went into to Balrrothery, Balbriggan and up again. Suprise suprise I didn't fall off. If I'd known I'd broken spoke the first time then I wouldn't have done it again.

Sods law - fall off your bike when the only one around is another bordsie!

The good news is I had pretty much the whole of the racing contingent from Swords CC witness one of my falls

Did I see you again later on, heading towards Loughshinney?

Yep you did. I saw the big grin on your face as you obviously thought about my front wheel rising and my arse falling.

Just got the spoke fixed at Richie's for just 10 yo yos so now I'm off to see that hill again and show him whose the boss!! I would request no spectators looking for a cheap laugh.
