My missus is currently learning to drive and we are going to buy a 2nd car in which she can learn. She wont be doing much mileage - practising and driving a bit around Dublin city.

I am minded to look at Ford Fiesta's as they seem to be plentiful. The requirements are:
    • a 5 door, manual and petrol.
    • A current NCT (above 6 months in length if possible).
    • Lowish mileage(relatively speaking).
    • Car for sale in Dublin.
Budget is about €750. Im welcome to suggestions on other types of cars as well.....

A VW Polo sounds right up your street.

Ford Fiesta 1.25 litre. Sweet little engine with 75bhp. The only issue to watch out for on them is rust.

From personal experiance the best car to start on is a 1996 Renault Clio in dark green metallic.

    Car had it all.

A little flap that pulled down over the radio.

1.3 awesome-sport engine that seemed to do a million miles an hour.

    Easy on the juice.

    Lumbar support.

Remote central locking that only worked if you pressed the key right up against the drivers door.

I think it even had a sunroof.

Never had a car like it since.
