They are all the same price now if booked a few days in advance and there is no way of knowing which of the other trains are cheaper as irish rail refuse to give details of their yeild management system.

There are no cheap times anymore, it is now based on how far in advance you book, like how the airlines work. You would want to be booking 3 to 4 weeks in advance to get the cheap fares.

Aircoach new direct service between Cork and Dublin is another option, €22 return, takes just 3 hours which is faster then the train city center to city center.

Have you ever asked Ryanair for details of their yield management system:rolleyes:

Actually, the cheap fares can now be booked up the 3 days in advance. They don't have yield management during this 6 week period. Every seat on every train is the same price.

To answer the OP, as of today, book it 3 or more days in advance and all seats on all trains between Cork and Dublin are €40 return plus booking fee.
