    Hi all,

I had a series of interviews just over month with the same company. Overall I had 3 interviews. I knew a few people in the first two stages who after that stage got rejection letters. I was the only person I knew brought for a third and final interview.

Afterwards, and I thought it went very well, they told me that the HR department would be in contact the following week. The following week I heard nothing. I left it until the start of the week after that (2 weeks after the interview) and I sent another email to enquire if there had been any progress. I was then told that the the main interviewer was away for 2 weeks and I would hear the following week when he was back.
The following week I heard nothing. At this stage I thought maybe they needed a bit of time to catch up on work having been away for 2 weeks, so I allowed a week to go by. I emailed again last week to ask if there had been any progress but this time I haven't even received an email back.

So should I take this lack of contact as a hint? Should I just leave it and hope they get back to me, as if I keep emailing it may annoy them? Or should I call this week and just ask to speak to the interviewer? All the emails so far and any contact I've had with the company, with the exception of the interviews has been with the HR department. Is that cheeky though, should I contact the HR department first?

I wouldn't mind them telling me- no we're not offering you the job and some feedback or telling me that they are still making up their minds but this lack of contact is driving me mad. I just really am not sure what the correct thing to do in this situation is and I would really appreciate some advice! :) At the minute I just feel like I'm being left hanging and I really don't like it!

    Thanks you guys!

I'd say leave it, you've already chased it up and as you say, it might annoy them if you contact them again. If the people you know got letters then I'd say you're still in with a chance until you get one.

some places are just very slow to make up their minds. they may have you selected already but are waiting for other elements to fall into places before offering you anything

Hmm true but I'm nervous about letting it lie as well, in case they think I'm not interested enough to follow it up! I keep getting conflicting advice!

I don't think that any company could question your interest in a job after you'd attended three interviews and followed up with three emails about it.

Companies/interviewers have never contacted me when they said they would ("early next week" often means "late the following one") so I wouldn't get too worried just yet. My advice is to set yourself a limit - maybe this time next week (or even later) - and call them then. I wouldn't bother sending any more emails.
