Just coming up to the point where stuff will be kept on site and installed in house, any ideas on security? Have access to electricity in neighbours house 70 metres away. Would a few motion sensing lights and cameras keep things a bit safer?

Hi OP, exciting times! Hope it's going well.
We built twice and whenever the big money items such as architectural radiators, baths/shower cabinets that had to go upstairs before stairs were installed, kitchens etc arrived on site, my other half set himself up to sleep there until we moved in - just made sure there was somewhere to store his bedding and stuff during the day so he wasn't sleeping in dust. We couldn't afford a private security firm so this seemed like the best thing to do. Otherwise would have been too worried about things going missing as happened to friends of ours.

I never did a self build myself but both my sister and brother did and would have to agree with sleeping there yourself,i spent a few nights on my brothers self build when he was not around,it would but give you some peace of mind if you can manage to stay on site.Another friend of mine hired a guard dog for the few weeks before the stuff was on site was installed, the company came every morning for the dog.Not to sure what the cost would be for the dog.....

How about buying or renting a steel container with a lockbox? If you buy it you can sell it on when you're finished.
