    Denver Broncos(daflood)/New York Jets(Berty44) -v- Green Bay Packer(Ben SFC)/Arizona Cardinals(ShaneCos11)

Just going to stick this up now. With the likelihood that the draft will hopefully take place on Monday at 10pm, it would be great to see people's availability for the bowl if they are to get there.

If I was to win, I'd be available all day Sunday to play.

Will never forget the first ever superbowl Bert. I scored with 1:20 or so left to make it a tie. Then picked you off with 10 seconds left and stepped out of bounds with 2 left to kick the field goal. One of the best games I've ever been involved in!

    The Showdown in Dallas

It was Superbowl Sunday. The 15-1 New York Jets were up against the 12-4 Green Bay Packers with the winner to be crowned Boards NFL Champion 2011.

The game began rather tentatively. The first half was one for the Football Purists as both team tactically probed one another with neither team finding their way to the endzone. The two teams could only score field goals as Green Bay went into the break 6-3 ahead.

The second half was a different affair however. The Jets received the ball first in the second half and embarked on an energy sapping march down the field for the Green Bay Defence leaving New York 1st and goal on the 8 yard line. NY failed to get in on their first two attempts and were subsequently 3rd and goal with inches separating them from a touchdown. The NY Head Coach decided to hand it off again to Ronnie Brown and the Packers anticipated this. Orlando Scandrick broke from his zone and ran straight through the New York offensive line, only for Brown to jink past him and power his way into the end zone. 10-6 Jets at the end of the third quarter.

The game was in the hands of Packers QB Matt Cassell and RB Ricky Williams. They passed and ran their way up the field to get 1st and 10 on the NY 16, coverting several 3rd downs on their way. The Packers looked certain to at least bring the game to a one point contest until Cassell had a rush to the head and believed to have seen Camarillo running free in the end zone. However, Cassell misjudged the pass and it was picked off in the endzone by the Jets Corner Back. Disaster for Green Bay and that was their first turnover of the post season.

The Jets then embarked on a mission to run down the clock and try get the game winning TD in the process. Green Bay finally managed to stop the Jets offense around their own 20 yard line. Leaving an easy kick for Suisham who made it 13-6 to the Jets. The game was in Matt Cassell's hands. He had the opportunity to bring the game level and try and force overtime. He had just 6 mins to bring his team down the field. The Green Bay offense worked their way down the field by running when it looked like they would pass and passing when it looked like their run. Green Bay looked like they had hit a brick wall at the Jets goal line when they failed to move the ball by a distance in their first attempt. With 1 minute to go, Green Bay looked like they were ready to run again, but it was a disguised screen pass, which the Jets defence just couldn't stop in time, and Justin Forsett became the Green Bay hero as he caught the ball and ran into the endzone to tie the game at 13-13.

With Green Bay scoring with a minute to go, it gave the NY offense a chance to win the game in normal time. The Jets came out in a 4 wide receiver set and the WRs went charging down the field looking for a pass from Schaub. Julian Edelman looked to be open and Schaub flung the ball his way. The ball looked destined for Edelman's hands until Brandon Flowers came from no where to batt the ball down. 2nd down and 10 for NY now with just 15 seconds remaining. The Jets tried to out do the Packers tactically by running the same play again. Once again, Edelman looked free, and as the ball was dropping to him, OJ Atogwe broke from his 2 man under zone to intercept the ball and hurry down the field to step out of bounds on the Jets 32 yard line with 0:03 left on the clock. This left David Akers a kick of 49 yards which he duly converted to seal the Superbowl for the Packers.

Final Score: New York Jets 13 Green Bay Packers 16

Once again it was a tight contest between the Packers and the Jets. David Akers kicked the Pack ahaead after their drive stalled near the Jets goal. Jets responded with a 10 yard run by Ronnie Brown to take the lead. Another Pack FG after a long drive reduced the deficit before we had the first major incident of the game. On the Jets drive a brilliant hit stick on Randy McClain ( kudos to Ben ) resulted in a fumble which the Pack turned into a TD through Greg Camarillo who was having a great game. McClain was involved again when catching a long bomb at the 10 aand being hauled down at the 1.....as time had expired in the half ! 13-7 to the Pack at the half.

Jets started the second half well and Reggie Bush ran it in from 3 yards and then Randy McClain caught another long bomb for a 58yard TD. Packers replied with a long one of their own to Camarillo from 51 yards. 21-20 Jets as we entered the final quarter.

Reggie Bush ran it in from 10 yards to extend the lead to 8. Then another crucial play. Just like last season's Superbowl the Pack were faced with a 4th down but this time Cassel threw a shocker staight to Bradley, who intercepted it, then was hit and fumbled it. Crucially the luck went with the Jets this time and they recovered. Randy McClain caught a 39 yard pass to extend the lead to 15. Pack went 4 and out and the Jets avoid what happened to the Pats in real life and achieve their perfect season 35-20 final score.

WR Randy McClain 9 catches for 209 yds and 2 TD would have won MVP. Jets had 323yds passing compared to 282 for Pack. Jets ran for 87yds, Packers 46.

Best of luck to both players. As Pudsy says it's a shame there's no option to view games, but if I'm online I'll keep an eye on the score.

    What a game.

Green Bay Packers -v- New York Jets

It was a familiar feeling for these two head coaches as they went head to head for their third superbowl in four seasons.

    1st Quarter
The Packers won the toss and chose to kick first off. The Jets received the ball and knelt in the endzone to start the game at the 20 yard line. The Jets moved the ball down the field a little to easy for Green Bay's liking, as Rodgers found Burress, Heyward-Bey and Keller as he moved down the field, eventually scoring on a 2nd and goal from the 5 yard line with Frank Gore punching in to make it 7-0 to the Jets. The Packers offense made up for the poor start to the game by the Green Bay defense by throwing the ball downfield themselves, with Locker finding Wayne, S. Rice and Edwards before finding Ray Rice in the end zone for a 4 yard passing TD off a play action fake with 1:18 remaining in the 1st quarter.

    2nd Quarter
The Packers once again could not stop the dominant Jets offense as they marched down the field in 3 minutes to make it 14-7 to the Jets, with Plaxico Burress catching a fade in the endzone for a six yard touchdown. The Packers offense responded again, with quick plays meaning they worked their way down to the Jets 20 yard line. The first huge momentum shift was to occur here, as excellent zone play by the Jets D forced Locker into a mistake, as he threw an Interception to Jets' Corner Back Tim Jennings. The Jets took advantage of this mistake by Green Bay as they moved the ball up the field again, scoring a 51 yard Field Goal with 7 seconds remaining in the half to make it 17-7.

Half Time: Green Bay Packers 7-17 New York Jets

    3rd Quarter
The start to the 3rd quarter was a hugely different experience to that of the first. Green Bay received the ball first and strong Jets' Defence forced a 3 and out and a punt back to the Jets. The Green Bay Defence knew after a poor first half that a strong second half was needed if they were going to win this game, and they subsequently delivered, forcing a punt on the Jets too. The next offensive drive for the Packers saw them get motoring again after stuttering on their last two. Strong running by Ray Rice and passes to Sidney Rice put the Packers at 1st and goal, on the third time of asking, Full Back Felton broke through the Jets' defensive line and in for 7 to make it 17-14 to the Jets with 2:17 remaining in the quarter. A momentum shift of huge proportions looked to have occurred on the Jets' first play of their next drive, when Rodgers had a rush of blood and tried to squeeze a pass in to Burress, but it was picked off by Dashon Goldson and he came to a halt at the New York 40 yard line. After being stuffed on the first play, the Packers tried a counter play which created huge space for Ray Rice, up came the Jets Free Safety to hammer Rice and knock him out of the game. The Packers then failed on a 3rd and 1 and due to some lag at an inopportune moment, missed the Field Goal from 49 yards to leave it at 17-14 to the Jets entering the final quarter.

    4th Quarter
The last quarter opened up with nervous drives from both teams, as the Packers and Jets traded punts. The Jets got the ball on their own 13 yard line with 8 minutes remaining knowing a time sapping drive could win them the game. This plan worked from the off as they moved the ball down the field whilst using up valuable clock time in the process. The Green Bay Defense eventually got a massive stop with 5 minutes remaining on the half way line, as Dustin Keller dropped a pass which would have completed a 3rd and 8 for the Jets.

The Jets punted away and left the Packers on their own 25 yard line, knowing a Field Goal tied the game and a touchdown would win it. The Packers offense clutched it up from this moment on, as amazing catches whilst being hit by Avery, Wayne and Fasano put the Packers on the 30 yard line of the Jets as the 2 minute warning sounded. This is when the games unlikely hero came about, as Leon Washington, the replacement running back for Green Bay took his opportunity with open arms as he made 4 big runs to set the Packers up on a 2nd and 1 on the 5 yard line with 1 minute remaining on the clock. The Packers head coach had a difficult decision as he wanted to go for the touchdown, but did not want to give the Jets enough time to get downfield. The Packers wanted to get the first down 1st to leave no time on the clock, and with that Felton the full back broke through for his 2nd touchdown of the day to make it 21-17 with 0:57 left on the clock. The game was not over as Rodgers made 2 quick 15 yard plays with the receivers getting out of bounds, putting the Jets on their own 45 with 45 seconds remaining and 2 time outs left. The big play was to come from this position as on a 2nd and 10, Rodgers found Thomas for another 10 yard gain but he was ht hard by Goldson who knocked the ball out to make an incomplete pass. Two big plays later by the Green Bay Defense and they had stopped Rodgers twice more, giving them the ball, and allowing Locker to kneel out for them to secure their Superbowl win.
