I just finished an IT cert with the OU. It was not very technical and only brushed the surface of networking. Fas offer the CCNA over two modules, ICND 1 and 2, which are delivered online and dont seem to have any workshops or day schools. Would it be possible or advisable to take this route with a limited knowledge of the subject matter, or is hands on experience essential? I dont work in an IT envinoment. Any advice appriecated. Cheers.

You can pass the exams using virtual labs. Google GNS3. It helps to have actually dealt with and cabled the devices at some point.
