as the title says folks, is it easy to clean the throttle body on an E46 1.8 03. I am thinking of having a go at it myself and iv`e looked up a few videos of how to and it looks pretty straight forward to me but i`m open to a few second opinions?? any advice is welcome thanks.

I knew there was a thread and I found it, but the pics aren't loading. The OP might be good enough to share them if you PM him.

I wrote that thread a while back but it seems the image hosting has stopped.
On the e36 it's easy as you don't have to remove many other parts to get to the TB but on the e46 the TB is more hidden away.
Once you have managed to get to it it's just a matter of scrubbing with an old toothbrush and some brake cleaner.
Put kitchen paper underneath so the cleaner fluid doesn't get on any hoses.
Reassemble and take it for a spin.

The flexi hose from the filter can be a pig to get off even when access is easy. I used a flathead screwdriver to wedge mine off but that scratched the alloy. Thinking about it after a plastic tyre lever for a bicycle (lift it up and get a a bit of WD in too) would have been a better option. I used carb cleaner and a tootbrush once it was off. Clean it off with a rag and then stick it back together.

Did mine 2 weeks ago, and it solved the hunting at idle, and the self revving once the car had warmed up. Easy enough job.
