Why aren't you considering doing nutrition in Trinity or genetics in UCD? Seems like you'd be better off deciding what you want to study before picking which college.

They're both completely different subject fields, I'm afraid. I'd agree with the previous poster.

Seeing as you're already saying things like "Trinners", you should probably go there.

It depends, do you give a ****?

UCD students? Don't give a ****, not one, it's true, you can tell us apart by our casualness and our care-free attitude.

Trinity students, they most certaintly do, much more elegant and poised, finely dressed and caring of status, so in reality you should choose which grouping you fall into and choose it on the basis of that, so as to not upset the equilibrium.

Ooh, I'm so using equilibrium in my essay, thanks O.P!

I hear the grade your essay gets is directly proportional to the number of comma's that you use.

OP here's a bit of a follow up to my original advice.

The last deadline for change of mind isn't until the 1st of July. Put down something like general science which leaves your options open and is in the general area of what you are thinking of. Have a think about what you really want to do. Make sure you sort in your mind what you actually like and what you just like the idea of. There's an important difference between them that's usually quite hard to get clear in your head. No one leaving school has any real idea what they want to do, I had to drop out and start again before I found what i really liked.

The Human Nutrition students are in some of my lectures in UCD and it seems to be good! At least in the sense that its challenging.

Im not in trinity so i can't say about genetics there but i also take genetics modules in UCD and it's quite different to what you'd imagine but if it's interesting too.

I'd base your decision on what career you'd like when you graduate. Have a look online at the percentages of what the graduates for each do when they finish and work out the possibilities that each course offers ;)

    Good luck!

Well, being a student of UCD, weed. Only in UCD can you get a plethora of weed offered to you, the lecturers are known to offer weed to first years, you just need to know which ones to ask, you can usually tell which ones, half of the lecturers are stoned most of the time. Don't know about TCD, but I doubht it's as easy to get. Another great benefit of going to UCD.

Anyway back to orginal question, as someone has said already, both are different courses, which offer different career prospects. I know it's an obvious question, but have you checked the points difference between the two? Not that you should let that hinder you, you should choose the course you want to do the most. Maybe try e-mailing both prospective colleges, or research online to get a better idea on what each course entails.

If you have done Biology, you will have covered nutrition and genetics, do you like both as much as each other, or do you have a particular favourite?

Hey, I'm in human genetics in trinity and it's pretty awesome! You have a good bit of one-to-one contact with genetic research lab heads, and they're fairly enthusiastic about showing you their work and labs, so you get a feel for the career. Also the "elegant and poised" students that chaps talking abou are usually found in the Arts block from midday to early afternoon, the rest of us are just normal students!
