My car was excessively molded. It was valeted (well, not properly), and mold is coming back all over from the depths of the roof cloth and insides of heating vents. I ran dehumidifier for 4 hours, and there wasn't a drop of moisture. Still, mold persists... Anyone tried preventive methods, like dessicants? Did anyone use ozone treatment?

I'd start with running the heater and the dehumidifier for a couple of hours. Much more effective at removing moisture.

Do you run the heater AND fan when you drive?
Many people turn up the heat but never the fan, always easily spotted by all windows covered in condensation whilst driving.
If you have the fan on, hows your pollen filter? If it's blocked, not much air coming through.
Your best bet is to shampoo everything/have the car valeted and drive around with fan/heater going fairly high for a while.
If the car is not used frequently, that could also be part of your problem.
Dehumidifiers used at low temperatures don't work very well, you'd almost be better off with a fan heater running inside that car, but this could be a fire hazard, caution is advised.
Make sure there are no leaks, check all carpets are dry, check the boot and maybe even under the carpets.

The car sat for a year and got badly molded. Then it was valeted, but I can only guess how much of the mold was removed. There are no well visible spots, but I noticed that it is (re)appearing on the roof lining.

I'm leaving open gaps in windows when the car is parked, and sunroof if it's not raining. I am using the fan almost to the max - the smell is unbearable otherwise. There is no pollen filter in this car.

I'll try Dettol, that's good idea. Not sure about hot water - but I've heard of steam cleaners, they would help I suppose. Would regular car valeters have them?
