Quarry and Pyrite

    Hi,
I am close to putting down a booking deposit for a new house in Fingal.
I want to be 100% sure there is no pyrite problem. My understanding is the only way this can be done is if an engineer comes out takes samples and gives you a yeah or nay. How much does this usually cost?

Also, I believe the pyrite problems all came from the same quarry in Fingal. If I get a certificate detailing what quarry the builder used - would this suffice? Many thanks.

Whatever about the cost, do you think the seller of the house will allow to take samples - i.e. possibly drill through the existing concrete floor to get to the hardcore (or some other invasive test)???

If you could get some sort of confirmation where the fill came from, this may be the way to go.
