Seriously. Call me ironic when starting up a new Boards account when I have a lot of work due this week.

Are there any ways to break the curse of procrastination?

I'm in the same boat OP.

I've tried Googling for documentaries that could help me with it. I've a lot of Uni. work to get done by Wednesday.

I bought a book about it... but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. :pac:

you could try just being mentally strong enough to get the job done.. instead of putting it off

i call it laziness just a more honest term then procrastination ;)

You need a mantra like "Gotta get shít done" and whenever you have to do something dont think about it just repeat the mantra. Eventually you want to get shít done and start doing shít without thinking.

Find something else that you absolutely need to do, and you'll procrastinate that, putting it off by doing whatever you're meant to be doing now.
F'rinstance, at the moment I should be writing an essay. I've done about 800 words so far, and about 600 of those were scribbled in work while I was meant to be doing other stuff.

Try learning an instrument, your work will be done in no time!

Hmm I too have a lot of work to do. So will appreciate any ideas. The annoying thing is I can't switch off the internet because I keep having to refer to stuff.

The trick for me is usually getting up early. I find I'm usually productive in the mornings but pushing towards late afternoon like now I'm flagging and I rarely get anything done.

If you've already thought about it, If you already know what you need to do, it's simple,

    Just do it

keep saying it over and over untill you're doing what you want to do.

If he were a real procrastinator, he would have put off registering on Boards until he got the name right and didn't miss out a letter.:P

You could block internet sites that you waste your time on. Setup OpenDNS on your router network and block these type of sites.

Procrastination isn't laziness, it's a product of stress. Maybe just try getting some real relaxing done before you have to start working on these things.. Rather than it always being there on your mind.

Steve Jobs said death is the greatest motivator of all, our time is limited, to remember death on your shoulder reminds us what's important. if you dont like studying then do something u do like!!

I find putting off things is inevitable and you should embrace it, rather than wasting time worrying about it

To long for an end to procastination is surely to request an early death

you don't stop procrastinating you just eventually forget you were ever doing it. a bit like depression.. Young and expectant are we? Lower the bar. Just keep your head above water aka off the streets n sure you'll be grand

If you want some real advice, put your thumb on your ear (both sides) and your middle finger on the outer side of your eyes and wherever your index finger lands naturally, imagine an almond 2 inches inside your brain (both sides) and a feather tickling the front of them. Do this for as long as it takes to end your procrastination. It really works.
