For some reason I have something called a 'crawler toolbar' in firefox. Rather than doing a normal search of what I want it goes arseways about it.
Anyone know how I get rid of it? When i typed this question into google it's saying "click on the crawler icon", what and where is this icon?

    Thank you please

ps, I don't know if this should be in here or should it be in the 'virus and malware thread????

Click the firefox button>Addons and under extensions look for crawler toolbar and remove or if not possible disable.

Thanks Nick, though when i go into 'extensions' I don't see it there. The ones in there I don't recognise are
    Tweak Network 1.5.4
    Personal Menu 5.0.7
    URL Fixer 4.0.1

    The other I know are
    adblock plus
    utorrent community toolbar
    stumble upon
    ant video downloader

Control panel-uninstall a program-look for it in the list.

Hold down the Shift key while starting firefox, load into Firefox safe mode, does the toolbar appear?

Can I just ask before I go any further on it here. I pressed Shift while starting Firefox, do I check any of the boxes (ie, reset toolbars and controls) or click on 'continue in safe mode'???

    Thanks by the way

Just continue in safe mode will suffice, see if it still displays

Ahh its not a toolbar, just a default search engine, click the left crwler icon>Manage Search Engines and you can click on crawler and remove it from there

we can remove it easily enough with this

    Download OTL to your Desktop
    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files here
