    Hi folks

Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong thread. Essentially I'm just looking for information in regards doing work experience (unpaid) in an establishment to gain, as stated, work experience. I'm not talking about doing it through an Intern program etc but I mean is it possible to go to a particular establishment and ask if you can work unpaid in exchange for work experience? The only thing that crosses my mind that might not make this possible is due to Insurance reasons but again at the same time I could be wrong and if the company agrees there can be a way of doing so? Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

    Of course you can ask
I'm an employer and I'd really respect that attitude . I'd make sure you really got some decent experiance and training on top of getting you to work.

In Ireland SMe business owners talk and we know who's any good in our area I reccomend you fire off a mail shot to anywhere you are interested in working and then follow up with a call

    Good luck

If you're claiming Jobseekers allowance/benefit, they wouldn't be too happy if they found out because you must be available for (paid) work and actively seeking work. Both of those criteria would be hindered if you took up unpaid work experience other than through JobBridge.

If he's on the dole he can get the employer to job b ridge him
If he's not there is no issue

If he is on ethe dole and the dole want him to wait for x or y before theyd let him then he should use his own moral compass but I know what I'd do

Thanks for the further replies guys, just pointing out (maybe should have said in my OP) that I am currently in full time employment. The other work I would like to get experience in would be evening/weekend work
