    Hi guys.

I am a 20 year old male student. I am wondering what my possibilities are when it comes to getting laser eye surgery.

    1. Where is the best place in Ireland to get it done?

    2. How much will it cost in this place?

    3. Am I able to get it at this age? (I'm a 20 year old male)

    4. How long is the waiting list usually?

Thanks in advance for any help guys.

    1. Opinions vary but for my money: Wellington in Sandyford or Mater Private
    2. Approximately 4K for both eyes.
    3. Yes but frankly you'd be better waiting a bit. The best time to have surgery is when your prescription has stabilised over a period of years. You may have reached this point but you're only just into adulthood. If you get surgery and your eye changes in such a way as to require a prescription again you may need further surgery although at least you shouldn't have to pay for it as it will be covered by your initial payment.
    4. Not long at all at the moment.

You should book a consultation and you will be able to ask a professional all your questions. I did one at the Wellington -it cost 100euro but that would come off the price of the surgery if you go ahead.
Disclaimer - I've yet to have the surgery.

You are not too young for eye laser surgery but you might have to wait for your prescription to settle down. I have had my surgery recently and it is worth every penny. You have a number of different places where you can visit which is great because it's important to get a feel for which place is right for you. the wellington clinic is a good place but I choose optilase in dublin city centre for mine. the price was lower, the consultation was free and while both places offered lifetime warranty, i felt just more comfortable in optilase. great staff in both places in fairness. definitely visit a few places and decide for yourself! PM me if you need any specific info as I visited a few places and I don't want to slate any clinic in public.
