Interesting problem on Dell Dimension E520

Got a PC with a Blue Screen Of Death.... BAD_POOL_CALLER .. PC would not go in to any of the modes on the Advanced Menu... So I said fupp it I'll just reload it. It's a home PC so there was no issue with backing it up.

So I load up the Windows Recover DVD, choose "Install Windows XP" from the first option screen... and BAM .. BAD_POOL_CALLER. I put in another hard drive, and it gets past this stage and starts loading Windows on to this hard drive...

So I'm thinking it is the stage that Windows Setup tries to identify whether there is an existing Windows install on the hard drive that it crashes.... I've run full tests on the original hard drive and it passes all...

Or can you run a memory check on the PC, and disk check (oh right. done)? Using
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ or the Dell check utilities (assuming that partition is still there.)

I did all the hardware tests from the partition and independent tests on memory and hard disks... including getting the same blue screen with each DIMM independently..

Right now I'm pretty sure the windows install was fkd, that it was a logical error and not a physical error with the disk.. I just find it confusing that a new Windows Setup is susceptible to blue screening when it references the hard disk to find the previous windows install.... which is what appears to be the case..
