Xps m1330 screen

Hi all,

I have a dell xps and was working fine till earlier today and now the screen looks like this (see attachment)



Do I need to get a new screen only or is the laptop completely gone?

Screen or GPU gone. (possibly RAM though rare)

Connect up to a TV with a HDMI (if it has one) or VGA cable and see if you get a display, if you do it's the screen-->which isin't that hard to fix yourself. If you don't it's the GPU.

Just did that there and it was working on the monitor so guess it's the screen. So would I need a new screen then?

yep be careful when pulling the front lcd bezel off , as its stuck on very well.

The 1330 can take either a CCFL or LED backlit screen depending on what it was shipped with, so make sure you get the right one. The LED is much more expensive than the CCFL for this model.

Cool, the specs say LED so will have to order that one

I'd reconsider to be honest. It's quite likely your GPU will fail at some point. The 8400GS is notorious for failing.

You could fix the screen and then the GPU will go, I'm not sure if Dell have to fix it as it's a defect or how all that works.....I think Overheal is up on all that though. (guess, from thread I seen b4)
