    Afternoon folks,
Lookin for some twin wall polycarbonate sheets for a lean-to I'm putting up. I see a firm in Kilkenny doing the 10mm sheets but 6mm would do me if I could get it.
Does anyone know of other suppliers in the country (I'm based in Mayo anyway).
Don't fancy the clear corrugated sheets that can be got locally (too thin)...

    Cheers as always

Have you tried Archers in Ballina?

When I did something similar, I had some shipped over from the UK due to the price.

Did you have a lot to cover, cnocbui? I've about 30sq metres, it might not be much of a saving with today's x-rate, no?

I made a lean-to woodshed and the paneling was for roof, sides and wall and was about 17 sq m.

Got it from here including fixing accessories: http://www.rockwell-meriden.co.uk/shop/products.asp?c=39&desc=Multiwall_Polycarbonate_Sheet_Special_Offer_Multiwall_-_Stock_Sheet_Sizes_10mm_Multiwall_Polycarbonate_Sheet

No idea if there would be a saving these days but there was compared to B&Q, Wilkes etc

Actually, just looked at the B&Q UK prices - 3000x700x10 £31.98 - £19.98 from Rockwell. Of course double or triple the B&Q price for the price over here. ;)

    Delivery was about £58

    Oh, FFS!

I just looked at the 365 plastics price for 1015x3000x10 sheets. Only about €40.23 a sheet more than the same from Rockwell. So for 30 sq m the saving would be only €400. Of course the delivery will take a bit of a bite out of that.

Oh yes, if what you are building will be exposed to much wind, you might want 16mm panels and 6mm would be out of the question, in my experience.

    Fair play.
THat's an unreal diff - calling Rockwell tomorrow. Tell me, did you get the glazing bars - were they worth it? What did you use for fixings (e.g. to cater for weatherproofing, expansion etc?).

Thanks for your info, it's been a great help.

Yes, I got the glazing bars for the roof part and am very glad I did. they are worth it.

For the sides, I milled T cross-sections of treated timber as they are under eaves and smeared a product like tec-7 on the sheet contacting faces for friction grab and to act as gaskets. That has worked well too and kept the cost down as it is only a wood shed.

I also used F section aluminium strips to secure vertical panels at the ends. Also got from Rockwell and worth it.

Would anyone think that these are suitable for covering a Hen Run or would i be better off sticking to corrugated Iron sheeting?

I don't think that the corrugated roof would take away to much light from the chicken run, but thought it mat be a better idea to get the polycarbonate sheets.........

I would say they are definitely suitable in terms of being able to do the job, but the real issue is probably whether they are worth it in terms of cost.
