Basic Corporate Tax question

    Hi,

I'm doing an assignment for college and I want to talk alittle about the shortage of IT skills in Ireland. I'm basing my assignment on an Irish company who has their tax base here and product development located here. The company has an american office in the states but no development is done from there.

Are there tax implications if this company were to decide to set up a product development centre there? Any research material you could point me to would be great!

Well, if that's your basic tax question then I'd hate fo see your hard one!

Does the company have income in America to offset possible US expenditure? There may be a loss of tax relief available in Ireland.

    :)

See I'm not trying to get into the weeds, to be honest I might avoid talking about this. Basically I'm trying to find out what would be the tax impacts be if I decided to hire staff to develop our product in the US instead of Ireland. Apart from staff cost, offices, equipment ...etc.

so yes we do sell the product to businesses in the states currently and probably pay import duty or something. If the product was built there, what would be the corporate tax implications. This was only meant to be a touch point in my assignment.
