Cost restriction in Skype

    Hey folks,

I got a question for the experts out there:
Is there a way to restrict the cost for Skype like on a mobile for kids?
I usually charge up my account with a 100 Euro paysafecard a time and that needs to last for four months (or should) so I'd like to have Skype tell me something like "no more calls possible until May 1st" when I've used up the 25 Euros per month - can I set that somewhere?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    kickarykee

100 Euro for four months in Skype? That's a f***ing lot! I usually come up with 10 or max. 20. You must be talking a lot!
There must be some option like a monthly subscription. You pay a certain ammount and get x minutes a month. Then you get a message like "no more calls possible until May 1st" blablabla. I think it's even cheaper than 100 euro for 4 months. Check with their homepage!

I don't think there's a way to do that in Skype. You could have it automatically top up every month from your card.

Or you could find a Skype plan to sort out the mobiles.

I think Skype for Business could be employed to resemble something close to what you're looking for. You top up as usual and that becomes the "company kitty". Then you allocate amounts to each employee. You would the single employee, so in your case you allocate e25 each month and if you exceed that amount it'll tell you you're out of credit regardless of whether there is money left over in the kitty or not.

In other words you would have to manually allocate yourself extra credit if the e25 limit was reached. So yes, you can fund the account with an e100 paysafe card yet get a flag when e25 is reached.

They could have called it "Skype for Families" too imho. It's all free, behaves the same as regular Skype, just the backend is different.

That's awesome, malachy, thanks a lot!
I'll try and set that up tomorrow - it's free, isn't it?
Or does it ask you for additional fees?

    @ThunderApple:
I use Skype for my business calls - the company pays me back the money I spend on paysafecards, it's cheap and it's also easier to keep track of what the company has to pay and what I have to pay for myself :)

oh, I see. Sorry, I thought you were one of us, poor students who use Skype for cheaper phone calls to talk to your granny or granpa or some old friends who're far away.
Or one of the crazy people-in-love who run the long-distance relationship.
If the company pays - noone cares about the money!

No additional fees, same call costs. If I recall correctly you'll probably have to set up a "fake" Skype account to be the Admin. Just use any other email account you may have. You'll just use that for top-ups and allocations. Then your real ID as an "employee".

It probably sounds more convoluted describing it here than it actually is, just give it a whirl and it should be perfectly straightforward. Besides, everything can be reset.
