Is there any way of claiming any tax back. I’m paying 20% of my income towards my two kids from my ex-partner, which is all grand and dandy, although it’s a bit of a struggle. I’m moving back to Ireland from the UK and was wondering can I get any sort of tax back on that?

No there are is no allowance for for maintenance payments in respect of children.

If the children stay with you even 1 night a year you will be entitled to claim one parent family credit so long as you are not living with another person "as man and wife" that is cohabiting.

Sorry no relief allowable on maintenance payments for children. It is only allowable if paid for the upkeep of former spouse.
