Hi folks, I've owned a 1969 Martin D28 for some time, it's an early Indian rosewood model, so rare but not as valuable as a Brazillian version but a nice guitar all the same. It's had some cracks repaired and th headstock was also borken and repaired at some time in the guitars past. When I first got it the action was good but I had a compensated saddle added ( the bridge wasn't original so I had a local man router it and fit the saddle, this man doesn't do neck resets ) to fix the intonation. The action is now got to a point where I don't like to play it that much. The top looks fine with no serious warping so I suspect the neck. Bearing in mind the headstock repair etc. it may well be something else but it looks to me as the neck is the issue. I will not like to replace the neck as it's one of the highlights of the guitar from a visual perspective. Does anyone know of a luthier in Northwest, or in Ireland who has expierience of working on pre-truss rod Martins? I have searched the forums but can't find a discussion that's specific to this type of issue. Thanks!

I'd bring it to John Moriarty at Archtop guitars, I can't think of a better man for the job. I'm sure the lads will back me up and give you glowing reviews of his work http://www.archtop.ie

Look up Danvel Musical Instruments in Marley Park Dublin. Derek Nelson.

Thanks for your replies folks, I had not heard of Archtop.ie and his website looks good. Pity the neck doesn't bolt off like on that Taylor! I have to go to Dublin in the comming weeks so I'll have a chat to both of them. It would be nice to get it firing on all cylinders again.
