Been looking around a lot of the south side dealers of late. I'd like to buy from a dealer who'll give me a warranty.

One is an 82,000 km 05 Corolla with full service history, brand new tires and has a couple of months tax and NCT til feb next year. Also has 4 new tires. Goong for 6450.

    Another is this one:

If i could afford it I would buy this:

(estate with roof rails is a winner :D)

Anyway posting to see what you guys think of the value I'd be getting, or maybe a couple of alternative suggestions :)

Lovely cars, but pretty pricey to service / maintain?

Well.....if you go to an indy mechanic it wouldn't cost you a whole pile more than an octy or corolla anyway here's a few nice examples:

For that money you would buy a lovely Mercedes eclass or BMW 530 r 520d now that's some car for that money

Or a decommissioned Russian jet, or a cottage in Leitrim. But the OP wants a car that's cheap to maintain.;)

    Something like this?

Those cars you linked to look very expensive for 6/7 year old petrol cars.

Consider buying privately at that price range?

Or if you could stretch your budget to this, it's a 08 and still has 3 years left on the Kia warranty and long NCT:

The Kia and the Mazda are definitely more the sort of thing I'm looking for. I didn't realise the main dealers had such a big cost difference to private sellers.

Really appreciating those suggestions as I educate myself on the whole car buying process. Thanks guys!

What do you guys reckon? Guessing it's analagous to buying a beemer / volvo or something in terms of maintenance? And probably not that fuel efficient. God dammit its cool though.

Just as a matter of interest how much would other posters value a car similar to the above but with 72000km on the clock if brought privately i.e with no warranty. The NCT and tax would not be up until the years end

€6500 for a 7 year old Corolla is madness. I would not pay more than €5k for it. You can buy a similar year and condition Avensis for similar money which is a better car.

thought the same bazz. no need to spend that much on that car.

Aye it seems expensive to me too, but I guess I want the peace of mind of going with a dealer. If I were to buy private I'd probably thinking of a max 4000 euro spend.

I recently bought a Mitsubishi Pajero 2002, 2.5 Ltr. Turbo diesel privately for €2500, 112k on the clock DOE'd till Nov.
I had been trawling Donedeal and the likes for mnths beforehand.
Pick a make/model you may be interested in and by looking at donedeal, carzone etc you'll see what price they're generally selling for around the country.
When I was looking for my 4x4 I had to endure lads talking through their hole saying rubbish like, 'If they're lookin for €5000 I'd offer them €2000' and various other unrealistic nonsense like that, the same twats never bargained for anything in their lives.
Ignore also the dreamers who come up with stupid ideas like 'Sure for that money you could by a 47 year old Bentley' and other ridiculous choices when all you need is something to grt you from A to B as safely and as economically as possible.
Its only when you mention that you're on the look ojt that all the car experts start coming out of the woodwork.

Best of luck OP with whatever choice you make

My Pajero is for going hunting and so far so good !
