A passenger plane with 127 people on board has crashed as it was trying to land in bad weather near Pakistan's capital Islamabad, officials have said.

Defence minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhar said the aircraft came down just a few miles from the city's Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
The Bhoja Airline jet had been flying from Karachi in the south of the country, and emergency teams were at the site of the crash.
The airline said there were 118 passengers and nine crew on board the Boeing 737.
All hospitals in the capital and the nearby city of Rawalpindi have been put on alert.
The plane was reportedly due to land at the airport at 6:50pm (local time) but lost contact with the control tower at 6:40pm and crashed shortly afterwards before reaching the runway.
Asked if there were survivors, a senior defence ministry official, who asked not to be named, said: "So far there is no good news."
Saifur Rehman, an official from the police rescue team, said the plane crashed in Hussain Abad village.
He told Geo television: "Fire erupted after the crash. The wreckage is on fire, the plane is completely destroyed.
"We have come with teams of firefighters and searchlights and more rescuers are coming."
Rain and wind were lashing parts of the capital around the same time as the crash.
The airline started flying again earlier this month after a 12-year gap.
It was grounded by the Civil Aviation Authoritity in October 2000 for failing to pay bills.
Speaking about the crash, aviation safety analyst Chris Yates told Sky News: "This comes at a particularly bad time for an airline that is re-entering the market in Pakistan."

This aircraft was an old Dublin regular as G-BKYI with BA

It was only delivered to Bhoja Airlines in Jan/Feb of this year after being in storage in South Africa following its service with Comair

    Interesting from Wikipedia

'The accident aircraft was a Boeing 737-200, registration AP-BKC,[1] msn 23167. The aircraft had first flown on 13 December 1984 and had served with British Airways and Comair.[2] The aircraft had been purchased from Shaheen Air, which had retired it as unairworthy.[3]'
