Family Support or Lack of!

Found this little article, but only have had time to summerise it as I'm on the way out again. It highlights the hold over us and the guilt we feel where it's undue, due to almost stealth emotional abuse causing us to question our identities.

My family's version of support is "we are fine with you being gay, as long as you never mention it, we never mention it - you never mention any boys and we won't mention any girls. We won't ask you where you are going or where you stay when you head out, and you don't tell us, and we will all get on just fine"... Sounds harsh, but, hey, it works!

I don't think I'd be able to cope with a family like that.

thankfully my entire family were supportive when I came out.

similar vibes here, i remember my dad wanted me to do some convert from being gay course....had to sit them down again!

My family have a lovely little routine. I come out once a year, no one believes me, my nan tries to make me get with every boy in the neighbourhood. It's practically a tradition at this stage. :L

My family are perfectly ok with me being whatever I want to be.. as long as I never actually have sex with anyone.
