Hello everyone, my daughter was diagnosed today with Asthma. The monthly medicines bill will come to @ 60 euro. Could anyone tell me if she would be entitled to any benefits from Social Welfare? I have already looked up the "long term illness" scheme, and apparently, asthma isn't covered. Would she be entitled to a medical card? We are a one income family with a net income of @ 35000.

    Thanks for your help

You could apply for a Medical Card/GP visit card. It is means tested but takes into account all outgoings and there is a section at the bottom that you can outline any ongoing medical expenses on. While I don't think you'd have an entitlement to a full medical card the thresholds for a GP visit card are quite high and you may have an entitlement there.
