hello again, after my first disastrous attempt at opening a thread on here, i am back to ask advice again.
i need 2 implants to replace my 2 front teeth, and i hope to get them this year, before the wedding
anyway, i am aware this is a one time gig so i am looking to get a quality job done of course. cavehill red kindly recommended a clinic in belfast, and they quoted me 3500 pounds sterling plus an additional 250 pounds for a plate for the interim.
i just looked online and i am getting prices like 2400e all up.
as i say i am looking for a good job, but i dont want to throw 1000ss away?

    any advice??

I had an implant done last Wednesday, got it done in Dublin, <snip> dental costs 2200 for the one, not too sure if there'd be a bit of a discount if you were getting both done. I'm very happy with how things have gone so far...the surgery itself is not pleasant....it's very not pleasant (not painful just bad sensations) but mine was a success and it will take at least 4 months after getting the impant in before you can get the permanent crown placed on it (needs time for the titantium implant to fuse with the bone in the jaw) so you'll want to factor this is when planning to get it done before the wedding. Anyways they seem to be really good from my experience with them, and reasonable price wise from shopping around a bit, could be worth a look for you.

The next poster who mentions a practice will be taking a week off.

OP Go to a specialist (periodontist, prosthodontist or oral surgeon) to get it done. The place you were reccomended in NI has no specialists. This is a one time gig, somebody makes a mistake and your going to live with it for the rest of your life. I am supprised how high the prices in NI are for general dentists. You will get a specialist closer to home to do it for less and it is usually more predictable for you. A specialist will have years of formal training.

I can PM you reccomendations if you would like

WHY??? Are you so afraid that some dentist who gets a bad reference might sue? Surely there is little point in talking about dental experience of consumers without mentioning which practice is being praised or complained of.

So.. you want an implant or root canal or whatever.
You come onto Boards and see Acme Dental Ltd, you go there and they make a complete mess of your mout/tooth/teeth.

What do you do? You sue Boards as you got the recommendation on a public forum.

We have a blanket system in place.
Naming a practice whether good, bad indifferent isn't allowed.
Unfortunately the risks allowing the naming of practices are too great.

    Go see a specialist.

The prices you mention are roughly on a par with Dublin.

I had an implant (no.3) put in last week, for which I also needed a sinus lift procedure. So much can go wrong with the installation of implants (to put it crudely, you're basically getting holes drilled in your skull) in terms of permanent damage to facial nerves etc.

It doesnt take a genius to work out what clinic is being posted about.. however I had treatment there... then had to get it fixed in Dublin..
