Some questions for you... i am pretty up to date on what i can or can't claim but i am forever finding out new things that i can claim for heres some:-

1:- Maintenance - I am legally enforced to pay maintenance so can i claim it back???? There is a form on the revenue page to claim back but they do make everything so difficult to understand for people. Even if its only 30euro a week???

2:- Car wear and tear:- I travel about 300 k every week to work so there is also a form on the revenue website to claim back on car wear and tear... now its all new cars there on about but what about a 2000 opel astra i bought four years ago??? Can i claim back any of the fortune we pay on mechanic fees every year??? What about fuel costs?? lol...

3:- Credit union interest relief:- Does this ONLY apply to home improvements?

Would be grateful for any help... Thank you...:D

Yes -- your taxible income should be reduced by the amount of maintenance payments to a max of 6k -- there is a form for applying here

Maintenance paid under a legally enforceable agreement is deductible provided it is not paid for the use or benefit of a child for whom the payer was entitled to child allowance.

No. You can only claim for business use where you are not reimbursed by your employer. Travel from your home to your normal place of work is not business use.

Home improvements or purchase of your home (subject to all the mortgage interest relief rules)
