Recommend a good Rheumatologist?

    Hi folks,

awaiting a public appointment to see a Rheumatologist. It is not sure what form of arthritis I have yet, but from symptoms it is looking like RA or more likely Psoriatic (due to the uveitis).
In the meantime I am being treated for a quite severe uveitus flare up and my eye consultant wants to put me on Imuran (75mg per day) as it is not responding to steroid drops or oral steroids.

To complicate things further, before all this flared up, we were trying for a baby without success. We have started treatment with a fertility doc and I am on fertility drugs.

However, there are contra-indications for Imuran and pregnancy. The eye doc says it is a relatively safe drug to be on whilst trying to conceive, the gynae says it has a risk (if I were to fall pregnant, which although unlikely could happen if the Imuran manages to improve my immune system) of causing deformaties or miscarrage to the foetus. He has recommended I suspend my fertility drugs and take contraceptive precautions. Both the eye doc and gynae have said I need to discuss this fully with my Rheumatologist.

But I don't have one yet! Three weeks now and no sign of even an appointment (which lets face it, could be for 2013 if the usual waiting times applies!).

I don't want to delay things any more than necessary, given my age, condition and also my fertility issues - I am seriously feeling that clock ticking! also, the longer I delay taking the Imuran (or some other medication) the longer my uveitis will take to go away.

I would really appreciate advice on a good Rheumatologist in Dublin (or even surrounding counties Louth/Kildare/Meath). I am prepared to go private for at least a couple of consultations to get some advice and be able to discuss my situation properly with someone who is familiar with this.

    I would appreciate your opinions.

    thanks

    amendment:

hi folks, after mod discussion we are making the following amendment to the charter:

please do not post looking for recommendations of specific doctors/other practitioners/clinics.

we are happy for people to continue posting about their experiences in clinics etc, but beyond that we cant allow recommendations.

    thanks.
