Just a guess but it could be part of the car heater / air con system for the rear passengers

    yeah it is -
would the fact there is 1 foot of water in the car be the sun roof drain hoses???

or would it be the plug hole under the battery which got blocked which then allows water in the heater intake?
    its my mates car

Water gets in near the pollen filter. Check under battery too.
