Things like Tokyo Gore Police, Machine Girl, so on. Way over the top gore nonsense.

Ichi the Killer and Planet Terror spring to mind immediately for the more modern fix. You should probably check out some Lucio Fulci movies from back in the day, The Beyond and Zombie Flesh Eaters in particular. The '89 remake of The Blob is a great creature feature with some excellent death scenes without being outright brutal. The live action version of Ricky-oh is worth a look also with some downright insane fatalities that would make the Mortal Kombat developers whoop with delight.

The late 70's and early 80's had a massive amount of gore filled movies, some great, some god awful.

One that sounds OTT is on Ch4 at 11:40 PM tonight: Slither. I haven't seen it, but the reviews seem to be positive.
Today, I am a happy gorehound. I've just seen "Slither," and it was a truly good time! OK, let's face it... this one isn't going to win any awards for originality. The story here is "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" meets "Night of the Living Dead" with hints of "The Blob," David Cronenburg's "Shivers," and a more-than-passing special effects nod to Brian Yuzna's "Society." But it WORKS here.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
