Hi all, looking for a couple of suits, one for a wedding and one for ongoing business wear. Any recommendations? Any deals? I know of Ryan's, Hanley's and Geraghty's...anyone else? What's Louis Copeland like, is he expensive?

Also, does anyone rate the quality of H&M, River Island, Zara, TK Maxx etc suits?

Mad, I was out there a while ago and it was closed then.
Went to Anthony Ryans instead and got a nice suit, had David Young do some alterations.

If you're willing to travel a bit, Eddie Murphys in Ballyhaunis is IMO one of the best menswear shops I've been in. Very helpful, not overly rip-off (if you can wait a month or 2 fr the business suit he usually has a massive summer sale) and will always be good to throw in a free tie, couple of pairs of socks, that kinda thing if you're buying a couple of things!

Depends on your budget really. I have bought before in Ryans, Hanleys, River Island and they were all fine at the time. Think the suits I got were all in the 200-300 range.
Getting married in a few weeks and got a lovely suit (dark grey) for 300 quid in Copelands, down from 470. They even tailored/altered it for free.

Shop around is the best advice I'd give. Take a look in them all.

Thanks all. Would love to get a Copeland if I got it within 300. Hoping it would do the wedding and business

Will have a gander in Anthony Ryan's as well.

The Suit Company in Briarhill are brilliant!

Reasonably priced, ridiculously helpful and they do the whole tailor fit of the suit very well!

Haven't tried the suit company but have always found the guys in geraghtys very helpful.

If you want a good suit that will last (and doesn't look cheap), go to Anthony Ryans or Louis Copeland. I'd stay away from the likes of River Island, H&M when purchasing suits.
I haven't been to the Suit Company in Briarhill or to Geraghtys so I can't comment.

Wool is the sturdiest fabric so get some business suits in that.

    Worsted wool

As the title says, I'm gonna be in Galway over the next couple of weeks and I need a suit for an upcoming wedding. Budget maybe €300-400. Three piece I suppose, and I can do city & county or even maybe further afield if you could recommend anywhere. Thanks.

I got a nice one in Remus Uomo in Corbet Court shopping centre, fairly trendy! About 400 for my sisters wedding

Anthony Ryans, there's a suit place in Briarhill Business Park, and there's Michael Ward's and David Mann in Ballinasloe out in the county, and McGorisk's in Athlone. The ones in the county and Athlone are probably going to be cheaper than the city, from what I've seen they can be substantially cheaper.

There's Eddie Murpheys in Ballyhaunis they will sell suit, shoes, shirt, belt for around the €250 mark. Then there's Fallons in Tuam that rent wedding suits.

In the past, for budget suits I found M&S hard to beat.

However, when it came to 'feck me hes a ride' suits, I couldn't find anywhere locally that could turn me into a stud and had to head to the Eastern world to get tailored out

In fact there are a number of bespoke/custom tailors in Galway and the West. PM if you'd like a list.

Why cant you just post up the list?

I've made an offer, if you're genuinely interested you know what to do. Or look through my post history and you'll find where I've put up the information before.

Need a new suit and seeking a bit of advice. Looking to buy a three piece suit with a budget of E200 (or less of possible!).

I know Suit Distributors in Briarhill are often recommended here and I have seen their ad's selling suit's for E69 and upwards but I haven't heard much regarding their quality, would it be worth my time checking them out considering my budget and needs (a 3 piece) or could I get similar value and quality with my budget from one of the stores in town ie. Geraghty's, Anthony Ryan's, Hanley's, Marks & Spencers etc

Remus Uomo in the Eyre Square Centre is worth a look.

Marks & Spencers have 20% off all suits at the moment so that might be a good option budget wise.

I recently purchased in Louis Copeland, and can absolutely testify to the quality of their suits and staff. They tailored my Paul Smith to my size for free, and they've got 50-75% off sale at the moment.

Their stuff and their staff are really excellent.

Don't they all do that? Fallons in Tuam wouldn't let you out the door with an off the shelf suit.

I found Louis Copeland to be bad to be honest. I didn't find the staff knowledgeable at all, sure they knew my size but the fits of the suits they were putting me in were awful and the color combinations old fashioned. Stock wasn't good either, the usual overpriced Boss, Paul Smith etc they're not even worth it at 50% off. Footwear is atrocious, didn't even have a simple pair of black oxfords, never mind anything of quality.

Just purchased a suit from Hanleys. Descent selection and with the sales on there are deals to be had. Alternations were free and the advice seemed good.
