Gears still rubbing even though drive train replaced

I recently got my front rings, front derailleur, chain and back sprocket rings replaced on my commuter specialised sirrus hybrid bike at the local bike shop.
I also got them to fix the gears on the bike.
He said he wasn't able to get them entirely right.

On the largest ring on the front, it seems ok.
However on the medium and smallest rings the gears rub a lot more..
    What is this due to?
i thought getting the entire drivetrain replaced would fix this problem?
is this a problem with the gear cable?

What gear combos are they rubbing in? Do you know that certain combos, i.e. at the big/big and small/small end of the range will always rub regardless of setup?

    Yes i know that.it's a 24 speed bike I have....
The bike has probably taken a lot of punishment on the road as i do a 100km a week commute to work..
On the medium ring its 2/3/4 gears and probably the same on the smaller ring

So it's rubbing on the middle sprockets?

Did the mechanic give any explanation as to why he couldn't get it right. Because if he didn't have a good one I'd be finding a new shop. It's not rocket science to get that right.

I'd agree with Vlad here. If a shop was paid to do all that, and gave you the bike saying they couldn't get the gears to shift properly, I'd be very clear about asking them to either give me a reason or a refund.
