Hi All, I have had my Whole house painted a Yellowy Cream Magnolia color for years and wanted to go a bit different. I have the house in an Older style. Lots of dark wood furniture and a large light wood fireplace like mexican pine finish. Curtains are all white. Anyone recommend a nice color to compliment?

I think Dulux have a 'virtual' thing that you can see the effects of different colours on a room. Pale blues give a cool feel, red tones are warm, green can be classy - but don't go for a lime green. You could put a dado rail around the room (or a border), about 3 feet up, and have a different colour above and below. Darker tone below.

    Forget about virutal world.Pointless.

What you want is a few A4 sized sheets of paper and some paint test pots and paint them.

Then put them up on the walls and look at the colours in daylight and at night time too.

Thats the best way to do it.:)

Samplers/test pots is allways the best way to go.Let the paint sample dry fully, and then look at it in both natural daylight and at night time under the room lights.

Once you are happy with the outcome, then just starty painting away withj the colours.

    Simples.:)

Nothing wrong with greens at all.

Infact, green in a kitchen/dining area can make the kitchen/dinning area extend out to the garden and give a natural flow too.

The red is "Smithsonian" and all out paint colours are from Fleetwood trade paints.:)

    Soft sheen and washable too.

The green, well we like it and it makes a nice feature out of that long wall and leads the visual eye out to the garden.

The other kitchen wall is painted grey.

The living room is a combination of a cream white and a darker biscuit colour.

Every room in the house is painted with at least 2 different colours, that includes the bedrooms too.:)

Painting all your window and door reveals a white colour will also give a bigger sense of space and light too.

Just my few cents worth, thats all really.

My kitchen is also a green and I love it everyone comments on it and its so lovely and fresh on a nice sunny day! I have nice big green plants all over it too and like you said it leads nicely out into the garden.
