Jobs In Football

It is very rare to say a football club advertise for a job vacancy, I have never seen it.

Do you know of anyone who works for a football club and what is their role? Obviously, for some people it is the dream industry but it seems the hardest to break into! And I don't just mean as a footballer! As a PR guy, ticket seller, office worker etc.

Buddy of mine works for CCFC. From what I can gather he is a general dogs body. Does everything from admin to editing the program.

Another buddy of mine was head of commercial at Barnet. basically it was his job to sell the club to advertisers etc.

I might be wrong, but I think Xavi works for a club in the A-League out in Oz.

Met a guy through a friend of mine a few times who used to work in Man U's marketing department. Sad thing was the eejit didn't like football, didn't like any sports as far as I recall. Was bizarre watching him checking for the final scores to see if they had won to guage how the mood was going to be in work on Monday and to see him floundering about asking my friend for things to say about the weekend's match in the office on Monday morning.

Left in the end to work somewhere else after a few years. Was the best marketing job he could get in Manchester, moved off elsewhere in the end.

Only part time thankfully, the industry isn't the land of milk and honey you'd think. The rules and regulations over what you can and can't do or say as well as the general politics is enough to drive you insane.

Plus from knowing a lot of people who work in football full time, they fall out of love with the game pretty quickly when they're relying on it for a living.

Some offers here from the mighty Saints, looking for staff in a few areas, including Part time Birthday Party Hosts, Apprentice Stewards & full time Chef's.

I presume that other clubs have career sections on their websites.

edit... actually even Man Utd have a Job Vacancies section
