    Hi

I bought a Giant Rapid 3 in the cycle super store about 3 weeks ago and have only put 100km on it. The straight bars are not as comfortable as I'd like and want to change to a road bike with drop bars.

The bike is black, white and red with front carbon fork and is model 8401203. http://www.dalescycles.com/2012-giant-rapid-3-ml-p2278

Add ons that I also bought include:
    Saddle bag
    Detachable mudguards
    Velo wireless speedo
    Replacement tube and telescopic pump
    Bike stand

Prefer a straight swap for a road bike of same value but don't mind adding in money for something better. Id be interested if someone wants to convert the straight bar to drop bar too for a reasonable price.

Why not go back to the shop and see what they can do for you.

I rang them and they quoted 300 to get it changed to a road bike set up. Gonna try and go the swap route first. Maybe there's someone out there that has a road bit that would like a hybrid instead.

If the swap doesn't work out, try Little Sport in Fairview. They quoted me €150 to convert mine.

I paid 700 for just the bike and another 150 for accessories. Any reasonable offer would be considered.

@merc230ce I rang little sport and they quoted me 150 to get the bar changed. I'm waiting on a call back to see if they have the parts in stock. If they do Ill go with them and hold onto it.

is that 150 just to change the handle bars or convert the whole: bike gears, drivetrain etc?

Bars, STI levers, cables, tape. Don't think brakes were mentioned.

I think they said 150 to change everything. The guy on the phone said they get people who want to convert their road bike to a hybrid so they have parts in stock that they took off other bikes. I assume I would get shifters, brakes and bars off someone else's bike and then they hold onto my old hybrid parts. They supply new cables and bar tape though.

Would they be willing to accept the bike as a trade in against a drop bar bike e.g Giant Defy? I would have thought that they could sell your bike on quickly if it's still looking like new.

Just got the bike back from Little Sport in Fairview. They converted it to drop bars for €170. Really happy with it too. Well done Little Sport, you just gained yourself a repeat customer.

Does that mean it's withdrawn from sale?
