hi all, I couldn't find a thread regarding this, sorry if it's already been posted

I'm looking to buy a lighter meter for a Canon dslr 400. I rang Whites in KK but the guy there sounded as if he didn't have a clue what I was on about. I asked him was there anywhere in KK I could get one and he said try Dublin?!?!

I then rang the Camera Shop on the Quay in Waterford, very reluctantly as anytime I had previously gone in there, the guy was so unhelpful. They seem to stock buggar all there. Anyway I rang them and he said they hadn't stocked those in years? I mean seriously, how is this place still open? I asked him was there anywhere else I might get one and he said he didn't know!

Does anyone know anywhere in Waterford or Kilkenny that stock these and how much approx. they are? Surely they're not that hard to supply/find?

There are a few on adverts, including one in waterford which looks as though it might be for sale...

Most smaller photoshop/pharmacy jobs probably wouldn't stock light meters any more if they ever did, and I'd say even some of the smaller dedicated shops wouldn't be bothered.

I wouldn't say they sell many if any of them. Plus like a lot of older gear there are a million and one different ones online for a fraction of the price of new ones, depressing the market even more.

Yep :D starting to get into portraits big time, have the lights n backdrops. I've tried Pixmania but they're over 600euro!

Start trawling EBay. I picked up a Sekonic L-408 a few years ago for about €100. Incident + reflective spot metering and full flash metering either triggered via a sync cable or cordlessly triggered reading. They have slightly smaller model as well which is very similar but is lacking the spot meter.

Yep, that's the smaller one I was talking about. Given a choice I'd probably get that over the 408 that I got, it's a little more compact.
