There is no true dual tuner Saorview approved recording box available. The best Saorview approved are single tuner models. thus you can only watch the channel you are recording. Another catch is series link is not being broadcast by RTENL yet, so no way of automatically recording a series.

RTENL say once a dual tuner box approved box comes out they will start sending series link information.

So single tuner is only option for the moment, without series link. There are reviews of some boxes out there. The triax tsc114 (see other thread) has recording, and the UK channels via a dish. There are some good reviews of the features here:

Click on video guides. It's not great at recording the BBCs etc as it does not have a 7 day satellite guide.

Hopefully a better approved box will be launched in the next year.

You can, but a second mux is going to be launched at some stage in the next year, so it's not a really long term solution.

People are comparing the features of Sky+ and UPC+, allowing watching of some channels and not others, while recording is not really what the average person expects.

The current mux is 100% full. TV3 and installing a HD studio at the moment. If any other channel wants to go HD then the 2nd mux will need to be launched.

There is also Dail TV (available online the past few years). This will also insclude Seanad TV and apparently Stormont TV from the north. This was supposed to be launched a year ago (they have a full TV studio already). The politician ae running scared as once it is launched people will ask how much it costs, and it will be a bad news story. Hence the delay. It will be another TG4. Hopefully it will carry some spanish football or a good shopping channel after hours.
