Stuck: Cant decide what to do

I'm 30 years old, finished an MA 18 months ago, unemployed and living with my parents.
Obviously something needs to change, I'm in a rut and feel like my life is passing me by.

I look for jobs constantly both here and abroad with no success. I don't have much practical work experience in my study area but I'm trying to change that by doing voluntary work. I still also apply for other kinds of jobs which is also fruitless. For example, the last interview I went to was for waitressing work and I was told at the interview that a qualified chef had also applied so needless to say I didn't get it.

I did a job bridge internship for a while but the work turned out to be nothing like what was advertised, I wasn't getting any decent experience and was treated like dirt. A friend from college is going to Australia where there's apparently work available in what we studied but as I was there on a working holiday visa previously, Id need to be sponsored before getting there which is proving difficult. I've thought about getting a working holiday for other countries and just hoping for the best but it would be a big financial gamble.

I'm now looking at teaching English in Korea. Apart from the friend going to Oz, I don't know anyone who is looking to go abroad so Id be going alone. Another downside is my best friend is getting married next year, Id hate not to be able to come back for her wedding, but I cant stay here on the dole just to make sure I can be there either. Whenever I think I've made a decision about what to do, I'll do a complete 180 and fixate on the reasons I shouldn't go.

Sorry if I come across as a total whinger, I just feel like my thoughts are stuck in a loop so maybe someone else could give me some fresh ideas.

You're gonna have to bite the bullet here.. Just take it one step at a time and book Korea (or wherever). Lots of my friends are there, they all love it. No point in hanging round living at home on the dole. Absolutely daft to stay here for a friends wedding. You could come home in a year. You are doing yourself an injustice if you stay for that. If shes a real friend she'll understand anyway..

    Look...

    Just go

If you are having trouble making a decision - why not put the power in someone elses hands and get them to book the flights, keep you focused on going etc so you have no option to back out? Worth a shot?

Let them go and book your flights and then at that stage you'll have gone too far to back out! If you're STILL afraid you'll chicken out - tell a few people, so that way you'll know that you'll have to explain to people why you never went...
