Gas boiler recommendations

I'm looking to replace oil heating system with gas boiler. Will be also stripping out old gun barrel pipework and getting new radiators. Any recommendation on best type of boiler to go for ? Contractor mentioned Bosch as good. Also is it a bad idea to have boiler outside house ?

    4 bed detached house about 160 sq/m

Also have heard mention of heating controls. Does this mean you can control temp in each room from a central panel or is it more basic thermostat on each radiator?

    Bosch, Vissmann, Valiant all good.

The more control you have the more fuel you can save if ran right, the minimum would be a cylinder stat and roomstat (controlling the temperture of the house from one point) the other end of the scale would be individual room control but that level of control would be reflected in the price, a design I like is two room stats giving you two temperture zones then split it between upstars, downstairs or daytime, nighttime, thermostatic rad valves on all but the bathroom rad and a cylinder stat, common installation and works well if fitted properly. Also look at what control you have with the boilers as gas boilers are getting funky and have ways of improving efficiency.

Personally I would want the boiler as close to the cylinder and heating system as is practical.
