Lost lens cap...

    Hi

    I have a Sony Nex 5K and I lost the lens cap for it...

    I headed down to the Sony Centre to get a replacement but it's closed...does anyone know where to get Sony products in Dublin? Or a cap that would fit if it doesn't have to be Sony... I also need a case for the camera.

    Can't order online as leaving Dub on Sat

    Any camera shop will sell replacement lens caps. Different lenses have different diameters, so you just need the right one (if you're not fussy about it being a Sony one). Your lens should have a diameter written on it.

    I assume it's the 18-55mm lens (the one that came with the Nex 5K bundle). If so, it has a filter diameter of 49 mm. So just ask for a 49mm lens cap. Companies like Hama make cheap generic ones (I remember picking one up in Dixons years ago, so places like PC World or Harvey Normans might even have them, as well as dedicated camera shops), or you can pay more for branded ones. Bring the camera with you if you want to be 100% sure it will fit.

    Conns (on Clarendon Street - the road running just behind Brown Thomas) have 49mm Hama ones for €7.50:

    A genuine Sony one will cost a lot more than that.

    Or you can confuse the hell out of people and get a Canon one, and make people wonder where you got the unique mirrorless Canon from :D

    They might have a case that suits you too in Conns too. They sell Sony gear, as well as 3rd party cases.
