Has to be the least substantial article i've read in years.
The picture alone tells the story here.

It will be called the Transit Custom here, and will be available with a 2.2L diesel 100PS, 125PS and 155PS. The SWB above will not be available in th US. Ford’s plans to refresh its entire commercial vehicle line-up by 2014.

2.2 litre diesel? What happened to 1.9 litre?

I don’t know I was just reading what was on the press release.

Low running costs start with the class-leading fuel economy, delivered by an improved version of Ford’s 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine. Available in 100PS, 125PS and 155PS power ratings, this torquey and responsive power unit now features Auto-Start-Stop as standard on Stage V vehicles, delivering combined fuel consumption of 6.6l100km (42.8mpg) and 174g/km CO2 emissions – a reduction of up to 8 per cent on the equivalent current Transit.

I think they are keeping on the 3.2 litre 5 cylinder engine aswell. Plenty of torque, all the new ambulances have them. I have to say I think it looks crap.

SWB available for tarmacadam sales men.

Amber flashing light bar at the back and cheap Lidl/Aldi hub caps come as standard on that version too....

"Reduction in fuel consumption of up to 8% over current model"??? Hah, considering the current model is a sow on juice thats no great claim. The new Master (with its v good 7 year warranty ul mileage too) is looking tempting but I'm told it's hard on diesel too. Hard to make the case for buying a new Transit, its just not innovative enough, the warrantys crap and Ford still build in the rust. I will have to buy a 12 reg in the next week or two for a new thing I'm starting, but I'm at a loss as to what to go for.

Its very like the Hyundai H1. I wonder are they going to do something similar to the European manufacturers by breaking up their vans segments between 2.8/3.0 ton vans and 3.5 ton vans and above.

This style of van looks very narrow. Its much more proportioned towards to small 1 ton payload sized van i.e Renault Trafic/Citroen Dispatch/Merc Vito. I wonder will there be a different model to replace the like of the old Transit 350/430, something to go head to head with the Sprinter etc! I just cant see this style of van evolving into a large ,rear wheel drive tacho van.

    Thoughts!!!

No way they'd do a chassis version of that, could ford have a small truck on the way, are they doing trucks anymore?
