    Anyone used one of these?

Pretty much the only usage will be to surf the web, will need to be able to open image files and the odd word/pdf file, and it's intended to replace an oldish Samsung NC10 running Windows XP

I know it's dirt cheap, but given the level of functionality required do you think it's a good match?

Thanks as always for any feedback!

Watch out there, they've gone and released several different hardware sets under the same name. Spec wise its decent, 512MB RAM isnt listed, but thats what you get. I use a 1Ghz Single Core A8 chip in my tablet and its fine, the 1Ghz dual should handle ICS grand, but it might be worth that bit extra to bump it up a bit if you have the cash.

With something like this, the screen will be the main dealbreaker. Check out some video reviews and see how it performs.

I have one and I think it's great. There is a known issue with the screen on older models that I believe has been fixed now. I've posted a couple of times about it in this forum if you do a search of my posts (I'm on the phone otherwise I'd link you to them).

Seems like 1GB....but Archos themselves dont mention it ANYWHERE which is very suspect IMO. Get your retailer to confirm before buying.
