    That i3-380M is a 1st generation Core i3, for this money you'll find a 2nd generation Core i3. Look for a Core i3-2xxxM.

Is this the normal naming nomenclature for the 2nd Gen Core processors?

I am also looking at getting a Toshiba laptop in the next 2-3 months. Am looking at the L750/L755 range as I want Core i5 and an Nvidia graphics card. Wouldn't want to get landed with a 1st Gen chip.

Yes... only exception are the Core i7 6 core CPUs with alrady have a 3, yet they're still 2nd generation (Sandy Bridge) Core i processors, i.e. the Core i7-3930k.

1st generation (Nehalem) CPUs only have the three digits, i.e. Core i3-380M

And the newer again ivybridge will be along in the next two months.

I was looking at a good site the other day that had all the different models and even the next 4 or 5 to come and what they could do/how they'll be made and all that but can't find it now, I'll throw it up if i can find it.

Depends on CPU and GPU (if it has one)

    One from Amazon,

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Z370-13-3-inch-Laptop/dp/B005TPRVAS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335041335&sr=8-1

    for €600

If yours has sandy i3 then you did OK.

Seems to be a Intel Core i3-2350M. The price is right with 8GB RAM.

Would these be seen as 3rd Gen Core processors?

I am looking to get myself a Toshiba L755 or P750 in the next 2-3 months. (Want i5 CPU, 6GB or more RAM and a good enough Nvidia GT525/GT540 graphics card)

Is it worth it to wait? For my (mobile gaming) needs that Graphics card is the main requirement.

Spotted this and will be able to get it handy enough if needed:

    http://www.jr.com/toshiba/pe/TOS_P755S5398/

    i5-2430 2.4Ghz, 6GB, 750GB, GT540M

    $880 (incl tax) = ~Euro670

If you're in no hurry then wait. Could be along sooner than we thought.

They'll be more effecient on battery, generate less heat, bit more powerful, by no means is it a big jump (10%) from the few benchmark comparisons I looked at but then they didn't even have to try as their's no competition at all now. Prices are supposed to be around the same.

Integrated graphics will still be ****e, so you'll still need your Nividia anyway.

Coming with DirectX11 at least now.

If you're in no hurry then wait.

    May 15th is D-Day... D3-Day, to be precise. :D
