Question about P&D marathon training plan deviation.

Just looking for some advise about a P&D quandary I have-

I'm doing a hybrid version of a 12 week plan thats a step up from the 55 mile plan but a step down from the 55-70 mile plan.
I'm due to do an 18 mile with 12 @PMP this weekend. The problem is I'd love to do the wexford half this Sunday, but am worried missing this weeks LSR, which is a key session, would be detrimental to my goal race prep?

My other worry is that racing the half would leave me needing to take it easy next week, I'm due to do a 14 miler and a LT run of 12 miles with 7 miles @ HMP.

Any advise as to what would ultimately give maximum benefit towards my goal race which is the Cork marathon?

Run the Half at PMP with a warm up and warm down, if feeling good finish the last 5k at HMP.

Was thinking of that as an option alright, though I'd rather race it as I'm itching for a new half pb.

That's a different question though sideswipe. Which would you rather more a half PB this weekend or your best Marathon in a few weeks?

It seems to me that if you have been training for a marathon then you won't get your best half time this weekend (although it could still easily be a PB). It's not just in running a marathon that patience is rewarded.

All that said I made a last minute decision to race a half last year in the build up to London. I got a huge PB in the half and totally screwed up London (for reasons unrelated to the half). I don't regret my decision funnily enough!

Cheers Clearlier, Think I'm swaying toward sticking to plan and getting the key sessions done. Cork is the real target so think I'll keep my eyes on that. I'll do a couple of 10k tune up races which the plan calls for over the next couple of weeks to try for some new PB's (should be easy as I've never ran a 10k before)!
