I have a dell inspiron 1501 - Model # PP23LA laptop and am having trouble finding a 6 or 9 cell genuine dell replacement battery.

The battery in laptop now is
    TYPE-HK421
    RATING-14.8V
    CAPACITY-29WH
    DELL P/N-XU882

Now when I'm looking for a replacement battery on ebay they all seem to have a RATING of 11.1V and I've been told this is not compatible with my laptop as the original batterys rating is 14.8V

    What does this mean exactly?
Is this the voltage the battery feeds to the laptop when not on mains power? (though the charger is rated 19.5V)

I've even found some batteries with the exact Dell p/n (xu882) but they're all rated 11.1V

This is driving me crazy as I can't find one rated 14.8V
I really want a 6 or 9 cell replacement but the original is only 4 cell with a capacity of 29WH and this is the part number I have on original battery.(xu882)

Also I've been told the laptop will not recognise or properly charge anything except an original Dell battery?

you cant get the 4 cell ones anymore and they are the 14.1 v ones.

the 6 or 9 cell will work fine i have been assured.

i was on to dell tech support about it.
