Let's talk about how amazing The Wire is

I'm now on my fifth round of watching The Wire and I still can't get over how much better it gets every time I watch it. I'm basically just interested if anyone else feels the same.

I reckon it's impossible to pick out one particular favourite character but when I narrow it down I think it has to be Bunk. But when you look at it there are so many amazing characters in the show. I also love Bodie, Omar, Stringer, Prop Joe, Bubbles, McNulty, Freamon, Avon, they're all brilliant!

Come on so lads, I want to hear about favourite characters, quotes, scenes, etc. And if anyone doesn't like the show I'm more than interested in knowing why and what shows you rate ahead of it?

No, it wasn't you! A spammer decided to latch onto your thread and post some sports streams. I've deleted those posts.... :o

Okay that's cool. Thanks Mr. E! By the way I can't believe The Wire has it's own entire forum and I wasn't aware of this. A particularly unproductive week is about to get worse!!

Best programme ever made, or maybe tied with The Sopranos. I was worried we'd never see tv that good again but then Mad Men and Game of Thrones came along!

Yes - no offence intended to you, OP :).

Just started book 2 of Game of Thrones. Can't wait to finish it so that I can watch Season 2! Saying that it'll probably save me the torture of waiting to see it week to week if I can just put it off til the end if possible.

For years I thought Sopranos was untouchable but The Wire was the one to knock it off the top spot. I reckon The West Wing is definitely up there too, even if it can be a bit cheesy at times.

if shows are over shouldn't their forums be shut down and then discussionabout tv isn't siloed from the rest of tv

    ...And the West Wing! :)

Best show in decades (for me!).
The Wire, the Shield, The Corner, Firefly (plus Serenity, spin-off film) and the Sopranos, all of which I have too, are also the greatest writing alone, ever done besides acted out and great editing, etc.

There should maybe be a link to the The Wire forum in Finished/Cancelled TV Shows to make it easier to find?

I'll move this to the Wire forum now.
