Hi guys,Im looking for some advice on how to get my rear brakes working again, this morning while giving the bike a once over i noticed that the rear brakes were sticking when i released the lever so i gave it a good spray of wd40 and tried to work it in but no joy and when i took off the brake i discovered that its crocked,i might have been a bit rough with it when trying to pull the pads away from the rims and as it stands now im not sure if its repairable or not,the spring seems to be inactive.with the working front brake i can squeeze in the pads and the spring will take then back out but the spring is not doing anything with the rear one,it must be something small that im missing and im looking for ideas or a good video tutorial,by the way the bike is a giant defy3, regards, got it sorted,i have been looking at it for hours and just now realised that the spring was after slipping up and over a plastic bushing, cheers

hi,if you look at the first picture you will notice that the spring is a lot higher on the rear(left in pic)than the working front brake which is on the right of the picture, the spring on the left had risen up too high and had popped over a plastic bushing which its meant to slide against and was of no use where it was.,im just finshed putting the brakes back on the bike and i discovered what caused the problem, when i put the brakes back i had the same problen,ie the brakes werent releasing fully and i found that the cable up under the crossbar had popped a strand and the cable wasn't gliding as it should,i unraveled that single strand in the affected area and taped up the end of it which is in the centre of the crossbar and wont impede the movement of the cable in the outer shell, looking back now i must have forced the brakes appart to such an extent that the spring ended up where it did, anyway its a lessons learned and i needed to get a bit of experience on the working of the bike, cheers
